The Board of Directors are collectively accountable to the members, community and other stakeholders. They are accountable for the organization’s performance in relation to its mission and strategic objectives and for the effective stewardship of financial and human resources.

Board members are responsible for acting in the best long-term interests of the organization and its community. General Duties and Expectations:
- Prepare for and attend board meetings once monthly
- Work as a team member, support board decisions and staff
- Participate in review of the mission, objectives, core values and the development of a strategic plan
- Participate in the fundraising process
- Monitor the performance of the organization in relation to objectives and core values
- Approve the budget and monitor financial performance.
- Abide by the by-laws, code of values and other polices that apply to the board
- Establish, review and monitor polices that guide core operational practices (eg. financial management, human resource management)
- Participate in the development and evaluation of the board itself
- Participate in hiring, evaluation and releasing of the Executive Director
- Participate in the recruitment of new board members, ambassadors, members and staff.
- Participate in a committee of your choice
- Attend and participate in the Annual General Meeting
- Keep informed about community issues relevant to our members needs, the mission and objectives

- Commitment to organization’s mission and strategic directions
- Commitment of time
- Openness to learning
- Interest in growing professionally in leadership and creating a thriving community
